I’m so fortunate to have pursued both a sex therapy certification and a Gestalt Therapy certification, both professionally and for my personal life. I liked Marty Klein’s common sense article. I hope that you have considered the topic of elder sex. Perhaps they don’t “need” therapy! My generation is growing in numbers. I see many of my fellow residents here pairing up, and I am sure that it’s not an asexual relationship. Shoshanah
Yes it is so important not to desexualize elderly people. Our society tends not to want to see elderly people as sexual, and as a result, often elderly people are put in situations where they can’t get those human needs met. For example, some of the homes that elderly people go to live in, have rules keeping men and women apart. This is not fair in my opinion. Everyone has needs for intimacy and human contact. This doesn’t change just because we get older. Thanks for bringing this up!
